What is Occupational Therapy and how can it help my family?
Occupational Therapists (OTs) help people do the things that make up their everyday lives — the meaningful, messy, and sometimes downright chaotic stuff that actually matters.

We’re professional problem solvers who look at how people live, play, learn, rest, and connect — then help make it all a bit easier, calmer, and way more doable.

For kids, OTs focus on their everyday occupations: play, school, and daily living (sleeping, eating, dressing, toileting, and bathing — yes, all the things that seem simple until they aren’t).

But here’s the thing at My Family OT we don’t stop with the kids. We support the whole family system. That means helping parents and caregivers juggle the physical, mental, and emotional load of raising kids or even helping them find themselves outside of parenting. Whether it’s recovering from a C-section, taming emotional meltdowns (yours and theirs), managing multiple family demands, or figuring out how to dress a wriggly baby with one hand — we help families find their rhythm again.

In short? We’re here to make the messy, loud, beautiful chaos of family life a little more manageable — and maybe even a little more fun.

ABOUT US
At My Family OT, we’re passionate about helping kids and parents actually enjoy life — or at least survive it with a bit more sanity.
We’re a neuro-affirming, trauma-informed OT practice with a holistic approach, because life doesn’t happen in neat little boxes. Research shows that supporting people in their own spaces makes change stick — and we live for results that actually land in your everyday chaos.

We’re a mobile OT service — which basically means we come to you. School, day-care, home, or out in the community — we’re there. Prefer to stay put? Telehealth and “walk-and-talk” appointments are on option too. . We proudly work across the central and eastern suburbs of Perth.

Our philosophy is simple: every member of your family deserves the chance to grow, thrive, and feel capable in their day-to-day life. We’re here to help you get there — no judgement, no magic fixes, just practical, human support that actually works in real life.

And behind all this? That’s me, Emily — OT, parent, chaos wrangler, kitchen dancer, and all-around lover of helping families find calm (and sometimes humour) in the messy, noisy, beautiful life you’re living.
